Being a Marine, I've experienced this firsthand. Being in the military (or police force) gives men inflated egos, the idea that everyone should do exactly as you command, and the idea that civilians only posses the rights that you give them. It also leads to the idea of being above the law. Being an official murderer of the state makes you above reproach and anyone who gets killed in the cross fire is just collateral damage, too bad for them. The life of others becomes worthless, since they are just the subjects.

When will all the blind mice open their eyes and realize that freedom is freedom? Saying that we are free does not make it so. Freedom of speech only in 'free speech zones' is not free speech. Freedom of the press is not free when the government controls (through the FCC) all of the television and radio stations. Freedom to protect yourself and bear arms is not free when you have to get permission from the government to use that 'freedom'.

Too many people today feel that rights and freedom are things given to them by the government. "I have a right to health care!" they moronically bellow out of their mouths without so much as a thought in their cobweb-encrusted brains as to where that health care would come from.
